We first met Paula a few years before we decided to move back to Calgary from living abroad. We were on vacation in Calgary and went to visit some open houses and Paula happened to be showing one. We had something in common right away, we all spoke French! We took her card and promised to contact her when we decided to return. A few years later and a few months before moving back we contacted her. Having a French speaking realtor was important for my husband whose first language is French. This put him more at ease helping him to understand the housing market in Calgary and all the in’s and out’s when buying a house. A few months prior to our move we spoke about budget, areas of the city and mortgages. She put us in touch with a mortgage broker, so we could get that part of the process started.
When we moved back home in September, we were ready to roll and begin our visits. We knew where we wanted to be and how much we could afford. When we were not finding exactly what we were looking for (we were looking in areas a little outside our budget) she got us to refocus and look a little further out of our comfort zone. I was skeptical as I knew Calgary quite well, but it had been 8 years since I had been away and things had changed. We were pleasantly surprised and found a great house in a great family oriented community. The negotiation process we not easy as first, as the sellers would not budge…I was ready to throw in the towel, but Paula talked us into sticking to our price and we got the sellers to give in and we were able to meet at an agreed price we were happy with.

In the most recent transaction, Paula helped us negotiate the purchase price on the condo below the seller’s remaining mortgage and $8,000 below the previous conditional offer that fell through. We put Paula up to the challenge when we were house hunting, as we were in Calgary for one day from BC, and had to not only view houses, but make a decision and put in an offer that same day. Paula spent the entire day with us driving us to different showings and being really respectful of what our needs and expectations were. The 4th house suited what we needed, and Paula did a great job handling the negotiations with us – we ended up saving $10K on our starter home because of her, and really appreciate that.
When we went back to BC, she continued to help us as we had an extremely short closing day (3 weeks) on the house.
